The Company:

Child Advocates mobilizes court appointed volunteers to break the vicious cycle of child abuse. They speak up for abused children who are lost in the system and guide them into safe environments where they can thrive.

Child Advocates recruits, trains, and supports volunteers who provide a voice for children in foster care. As Harris County’s Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) program, the organization provides lifesaving advocacy that helps abused and neglected children exit foster care to a safe, permanent home as quickly as possible.

Child Advocates volunteers make a profound difference in the lives of children they serve. Studies show children served by an advocate volunteer are better able to work with others, and to control defiant behavior than children without an advocate. Also, more parents of these children complete counseling services, psychiatric evaluations, and drug and alcohol counseling than those without an advocate. With Child Advocates’ help, the cycle of abuse can be broken, allowing these children to become productive adults and loving parents.

As the organization has grown post-pandemic, Child Advocates have a need for an Accounting Manager to provide support to the Finance Director on a variety of tasks and duties.

The Role:

The Accounting Manager will help ensure timely and accurate reporting of all financial statements and other financial reports according to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). This position should understand the full accounting cycle – General Ledger, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Journal Entries, Balance Sheet Reconciliations, Budgets, and Financial Reporting following all accounting policies, procedures, and standards.

The Accounting Manager supports the Finance Director by ensuring all financial transactions are correct and delivered on time with minimal errors. This individual will learn the fiscal calendar financial events weekly, monthly, quarterly and annually to prepare and anticipate for reporting purposes. They will ensure that files are up to date and audit ready.
