The Role:

The Manager, Health & Safety Services provides safety leadership to promote cultural changes to achieve industry leading safety performance. This individual manages the activity of the Safety, Emergency Response, Fire Protection, Industrial Hygiene, and Health & Safety Training staff and functions. The successful candidate recommends, directs and evaluates programs and procedures to ensure the protection and well-being of employees, facilities and the general public. S/He minimizes consequences of occupational injuries and illnesses, incidents, and loss of company assets while ensuring compliance with health and safety laws, regulations, and standards. The Manager, Health & Safety Services provides advice to Senior Management on compliance and risk acceptability and on strategic safety & health plans and objectives. This individual establishes goals/objectives, plants/directs work, works with staff to establish and implement professional development plans for staff and sets performance criteria for department. This person reviews candidates to fill vacancies, conducts performance reviews and recommends salary increases and bonus payments. The successful individual serves as LCMC liaison to safety and health regulators as well as community emergency response agencies.
